Is this course for you?
This course is an appropriate qualification for teachers, social workers (field and residential), probation officers, nurses, mental health workers and volunteers from a variety of helping agencies; personnel officers, managers and those preparing for a career change. This course will qualify you to work as a counsellor                                   within an agency or in independent practice.

Who can apply?
Applicants can apply who have some previous experience of counselling training. Evidence of successful training to Certificate Level 3, involving a minimum of 120 hours tuition. Minimum age on entry is normally 25.
For example you will have either an Introduction to Counselling Certificate or relevant experience and a minimum of a Level 3 Certificate in Counseling Skills and Theory or it's equivalent.

How much will it cost?
The fee** for the course is £2100.00 per year (The total course fee is £4200.00 - 2019 entry)** A deposit of £350.00 is required to secure your place on the course.

Please note that the requirement for personal counselling and in some placements supervision costs will increase the overall cost of the course, although a number of counsellors do offer reduced rates to students. A list of local counsellors who have experience of working with counselling students will be offered to students.
The Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling equips counsellors to practice in a variety of settings and contexts and many students go on to take a level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling.
On successful completion of the course, students can apply to take the Certificate of Proficiency with BACP. This is a standardised assessment of the skills, knowledge and abilities required to be a professional counsellor or psychotherapist. It represents a level of competence that clients can expect. 
Once students have satisfied all the criteria required for personal accreditation graduates are eligible to apply for individual accreditation with BACP and/or UKCP.
A number of students from ICT have gone on to take a Masters Degree thus enabling them to pursue a research interest.

** An initial fee to secure a place of £350.00 is required with the rest of the cost of the first year being paid in full a minimum of 28 days prior to the course start date with an option of paying by instalments during the two years (for example, first year: 10 payments of £175.00). Each payment agreement will be made individually prior to the start of the course and a standing order schedule set up.
