Independent Counselling Training's Theoretical Approach
Counselling courses in the U.K have a chosen theoretical model which underpins all their teaching and practice and ICT is no different.
All the courses at ICT are framed within the Humanistic Approach to counselling.
ICT integrates those approaches which have a philosophy in common under one Humanistic umbrella, such as the Person-Centred approach, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.
To find out more click on the document that outlines this aproach and where we explain the underpinning philosophy.
Although a Humanistic centre ICT believes that it is important for students to be exposed to other theoretical ideas such as psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (at all levels) ensuring students are able to make an informed choice about the approach that fits with their own philosophy about human personality.
